Staying Alive

Feel the city breakin'
And ev'rybody shakin'
And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha,
Stayin' alive.
Stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha,
Stayin' alive.

It seems that one our machines at work (the radio station) decided to commit virtual sepiku (a much better post title now that I think about it) and I had to perform emergency "surgery" over the weekend.

It's a long story, but in order to keep our stations sounding good during the day, I had to come in Sunday morning (at 1:00AM) and work through the wee hours of the morning until the problem was taken care of. I ended up leaving at 7:30AM, just as the sun was rising. (Going to sleep felt like a chore at that point.) All in all, 24+ hours of no sleep. I hit the pillow hard and spent the entire day Sunday and Monday trying to get back into my regular sleep cycle.

All is good now and it seems my efforts were not in vain. I learned my lesson from not backing up important software and audio and I have officially deemed this week "backup week" at work. All pertinent software and files will be burned to CDs so that if this ever happens again all I have to do is drag-and-drop. Exciting news, I know.

This extended period spent at work did not allow for me to post any photos for my 365 project, but I was able to snap some shots over the weekend. I'll post them here some time tomorrow in order to catch up, as I have no idea where the current whereabouts of my camera are. So at least that streak is still alive.

In other news, Whiskerino is coming up and at the moment I'm 100% behind this. We'll see if my opinion changes as that date approaches. Even though I have a face for radio, I sometimes have to make public appearances and I'm not sure how smoothly this will go over with my bosses. We'll see...

Be seeing you...

about

Jason P. Thompson is a 20-something web and graphic designer. I currently live in Bedford, IN and work at three small-market radio stations based in the same city. At work I wear many hats including IT Consultant, Webmaster, Graphic Designer, Assistant Program Director and Morning Producer. I do work in radio, so assume that I only get paid for one of those jobs.

I went to school for a career in TV or film but I have found myself down many different careers paths since that time. Perhaps I will never have a life long career (even though I have been currently employed at the same place I was hired on in high school back in early 2001), but that's OK with me.

When not at work, I enjoy keeping up with film, television and graphic design. Television is a particularly "bad" vice of mine; I try to give every new show at least one chance before committing one way or another.
