Work has been going smooth lately. TOO smooth, if you ask me.
At work, this is the time of the year where contracts are renewed, contracts are ended and contracts with new entities are signed.
The person in the position before me never read the contracts we signed. There are things we were contracted for that we may never have fulfilled on our end. This, as it seems, went unnoticed by everyone. That person is long gone now, but it feels good to look through our contracts and point out to my general manager (and my program director) the faults of my predecessor. They clearly dropped the ball and we're lucky we passed on by unscathed. (I guess this post isn't helping things, but whatever.)
There is always something on my plate, but for the most part I don't mind. I'm a busybody. The (few) times I've found myself with nothing to do, I'm bored out of my mind. This usually pushes me towards cleaning out my desk or reorganizing my long duration "to-do" list on my whiteboard. Times like these aren't that bad, but it's still boring nonetheless.
I always have to be doing something. Or at least have something planned for the near future. Yet with this type of "organized mind" I am a big fan of the unpredictable. This probably has to do something with my line of work, where news is breaking constantly and information is coming through our portal at the top of every hour.
Back on topic... I've managed to keep an iron grip on all of my contracts and part-time scheduling. I feel that something "terrible" is about to happen. Something HUGE is about to get atom bombed on my plate.
I can feel it in my bones.
Be seeing you.
Jason P. Thompson is a 20-something web and graphic designer. I currently live in Bedford, IN and work at three small-market radio stations based in the same city. At work I wear many hats including IT Consultant, Webmaster, Graphic Designer, Assistant Program Director and Morning Producer. I do work in radio, so assume that I only get paid for one of those jobs.
I went to school for a career in TV or film but I have found myself down many different careers paths since that time. Perhaps I will never have a life long career (even though I have been currently employed at the same place I was hired on in high school back in early 2001), but that's OK with me.
When not at work, I enjoy keeping up with film, television and graphic design. Television is a particularly "bad" vice of mine; I try to give every new show at least one chance before committing one way or another.
